It’s conference season, and we’re starting to visit conferences from the blog. Friday was the JD Hooker Bicentennial Meeting at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew.
We have a soft spot for JD Hooker as he’s responsible for the name Annals of Botany, or at least part of it. The original proposed title for the journal was The Journal of Botanical Science, but JD Hooker replaced Journal with Annals. Mike Jackson, a former editor-in-chief, hasn’t found out who was responsible for replacing Botanical Science with Botany.
